On October 12th, SCCS 9-12th graders met to celebrate the school’s annual Fall Fling.

SCCS’ Fall Fling is organized by the Student Leadership Council and serves as an opportunity for students to fellowship, play games and enjoy a meal together outside of the regular academic setting.

This year, the SCCS campus was transformed into a western themed atmosphere, complete with a mechanical bull, cornhole, jenga, crafts and square dancing. Several eighth grade students helped Mr. and Mrs. Plew make waffles to go along with fried chicken and helped to serve the meal.

Over one hundred students showed up dressed in western attire ready for a night of fun. “We had so much fun and I had a really good time with my friends,” shared eleventh grader, Courtney Lotz. “It was a good time to bond with people in my class.”

Following a time of fellowship and fun, students enjoyed learning how to line and square dance by a professional instructor, Mr. Dale Hopper, who led the way, calling out each step. “It was fun seeing so many students come together and participate in something new,” said Activities Director, Natalie Clapper.

Events like this help to foster and build community within the student body. “Students are able to meet and get to know their peers from different classes,” shared Mrs. Clapper.

The students had such a great time together and are looking forward to the next school event.
